Just saw this on Colbert Report. Ok, so technically it’s her daughter Piper making the comment, but Palin goes ahead and includes it in her (likely heavily edited) report of her little vacation tour:

When Piper laid the wreath at George Washington’s tomb this afternoon, I wished that every American school student could be here to see and feel the spirit of our nation’s first father. Even Piper was able to grasp the significance of being in the presence of our first President - who had such diverse interests - when she told me later “how hard he must have worked to keep that farm going!”

Good God. You know at least a dozen people had to have gone over the text to this thing in order to make it look like it wasn’t written by a kindergartner, and no one mentioned this little section? You know, about how it was SLAVES that kept that farm going? That George Washington wasn’t going out there, planting and harvesting himself?

It’s like she’s actively trying to make herself even more of a joke.
