Man, does that guy know how bad he’s making the Marines look, or does he just want out of Afghanistan?

What “moral values” is he talking about, exactly? Is this in the vein of “homosexuals will tempt us into being homosexual by being allowed to let others know about their homosexuality”?

Not to attack these Marines but I am sure that there were some in 1947 that thought when Truman desegregated the military that it was against the values of what they signed up for. I’ve said it countless times before but I know damn well that there have and will be gay and lesbians that make better service people than I would. Judging someone strictly on their sexuality is primitive.

A true Marine, or any American service member, would better serve themselves and their country by focusing on the role they are fulfilling - and upholding the Oath they freely took.

“I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

It’s the same oath I took, and the same that my son took several weeks ago upon his commissioning as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army.

Having served with service members I knew who were gay, my ONLY concern was could they meet the requirements of the role they were assigned. Basically, could I count on them being there when it counted?

I was never disappointed in that regard because of someone sexual preferences.
