Unconfirmed Report That Unidentified Group Killed 40 Syrian Security Forces In Ambush
That kind of attack will not go unpunished. Expect the Syrian regime to unleash hell on the people of Jisr al-Shughour after 40 members of the Syrian security forces were killed in an ambush:
Forty members of the Syrian security forces were killed in the northwestern town of Jisr al-Shughour, most of them in an ambush, state television said on Monday.
“The armed groups are using weapons and grenades … the people in Jisr al-Shughour are urging the army to intervene speedily,” state TV said. It said earlier that security forces had clashed with hundreds of gunmen who had set up blockades in the town.
It was the first time officials had reported such a large-scale confrontation in the 11-week uprising against President Bashar al-Assad’s rule.
UPDATE:
MSNBC is reporting at least 120 are now dead in Jisr al-Shughour, and most were killed at a security most overrun by unidentified assailants. No one can independently verify the events, but expect Assad to crack down harshly and residents in the area may very well see a Hama-style massacre as Assad attempts to crush those standing up to his regime.
