PolitiFact | Chain e-mail accuses Barack Obama of hypocrisy in raid on Osama bin Laden
Politifact facts checks another wingnut email that tries to rewrite history - one of President Obama’s campaign points during 2008 was that he would go into Pakistan to get the real terrorists. The GOP at that time tried to make this out as crazy talk against one of our allies, those who were doing that included both McCain and Palin. Now they are say that the President flip flopped, which is an outright lie as bad as Paul Revere “ringing those bells”….
Thanks once again to our President for sticking to his word and getting Bin Laden inside Pakistan. Let me put this in language even wingnuts can understand:
President Obama said during the campaign that he would go after Bin Laden and other terrorists in Pakistan if elected. He sent the seals in and our greatest enemy is now fishfood. He’s got my vote in 2012.
We thought we’d look into whether the quotations in the e-mail were accurate. We did extensive searches on Google, in the Lexis-Nexis news database and the White House’s own website, as well as checking with a few experts. The White House did not respond to our query.
While it’s impossible to prove a negative, we found no evidence to support the notion that Obama said any of these things. In fact, several of the statements are directly contradicted by the evidence we found.
We’ll take the quotes one by one.
