Tracy Morgan Says He Would Kill a Gay Son
Lest we fool ourselves into thinking blatant homophobia is limited to GOP politicians:
A standup performance by Tracy Morgan was widely condemned around the Web and by groups like the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation after a man who attended the show said Mr. Morgan made anti-gay remarks.
Following the performance by Mr. Morgan, the comedian and “30 Rock” co-star, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on June 3, an audience member named Kevin Rogers described the show in a Facebook post titled “Why I No Longer ‘Like’ Tracy Morgan – A Must Read.”
Mr. Rogers, who said in his post that he is gay, wrote that Mr. Morgan said “gay is a choice, and the reason he knows this is exactly because ‘God don’t make no mistakes’ (referring to God not making someone gay cause that would be a mistake).”
He went on to describe Mr. Morgan as saying that “gay was something kids learn from the media and programming” and if his son were gay and talked in a high-pitched voice, “he would pull out a knife and stab” him to death. Mr. Rogers said he saw other audience members walk out of the show but that he remained behind and watched it in its entirety.
