Get off Ricks' back. He said it was different. You heard him. It don't count. Him and his are special. Chosen. You know...different. Anyone who votes for this pig is certified stupid and should seek professional help.

This doesn't make them any less hypocritical, but some of the facts of the first linked article are not the same as those in its sources. One of the sources named and linked at the end is Our Silver Blog. From the description there, it was more of a full-birth abortion, but they did not have to induce labor. But they would have if she hadn't already gone into labor without inducement.

Do as I say you should do, not as I doo doo.

Favorited... I can't believe it. But, when actually faced with it, you do what makes sense. But only me.

You're a homosexual tooth with a hat. Your credibility is therefore above Newt Gingrich, but below Huckabee and the Baby Jesus.

I apparently have much to aspire to.

Well, Huckabee is in reah and I am Jewish; so in my book you are doing very well, indeed ;]

in reach. As "reah" is not a real word.

Hey, just cause I'm a Tooth doesn't mean I'm not chosen!

Check out this, the reason she gives to justify her procedure:

justifying the saving of her own life by explaining that her other children would have lost a mother.

So, a woman's life on its own should be sacrificed to save the fetus-- it's justified to save her IF she's already a mother, and therefore already fulfilling her natural role.

These people make me sick.

re: #2 wrenchwench

The phrase Mrs. Santorum uses as recorded at that blog:

Santorum said her labor proceeded without having to induce an abortion.

She is in denial that she, her own body, herself, performed an abortion on itself to save itself. This is one of the evolved traits of the female mammal - aborting of fetuses in case of emergency.

She and her husband refuses to acknowledge that when a doctor aborts the fetus in

In such a situation all that the doctor is doing, indeed what is the goal of medicine, is to improve the well being of as many individuals as possible. In this case, the choice was 1 adult death and 1 fetal termination, or just 1 fetal termination. Since there was 0 chance of the fetus surviving, the doctors procedure is solely to improve the odds of the mother's survival and health.

That the Santorums cannot accept this is a sign of some deep rejection of reality:
1) that "abortion" is a process that mammals naturally do in extreme cases;
2) that the abortion procedure the doctor wanted to do had no effect on the final viability of the fetus.

Excellent points. Possibly this is related to the hatred of science that goes hand-in-hand with the so-con perspective. Definitely related to the refusal to acknowledge that nature aborts a large percentage of human pregnancies in the first few weeks.

Hypocrite.

Oh you guys. You know what Santorum will say: that this was a painful, intimate and private matter that isn't anyone's business. The media will more that likely back him and so will conservatives pro-lifers.

Of course this is true. It is painful, intimate and private. Which is why I am pro-choice and want his hypocritical ass to butt out and mind his own damn business. That's all the pro-choice movement is asking for.

How can you tell that the tooth is homosexual?

I think my hat gives it away. Too flashy?

Also, I wrote this.

The potential hypocrisy is deeply concerning, but read into the details of this case. They knew the fetus was terminal of natural causes already, and even still, they named the fetus and carried it home to bury anyway.

To me, that indicates a serious commitment to the pro-life ideal. Really to the point of being borderline creepy.

I deeply object to nearly every idea this guy has on social issues, including abortion. I'm pro-choice myself. But I find myself hesitating to pile on the personal hypocrisy accusations as readily as most, here. It seems quite open to interpretation.

Even still, it warrants oblique criticism simply in the fact that he seems so willing to pass laws that eliminate that very right to interpretation anyway.

Here's The New Yorker's piece back in 1998. It's listed as one of 4 sources at the bottom of the article. I don't think it's satire in the slightest.

I'm horrified at the thought of this man even voting, much less being voted for!! Belligerently oblivious to breathtaking hypocrisy - one of the LAST traits we need in humanity in general, much less a leader!!

Thanks for the link, I guess it just seemed unbelievable on the first read.
