I'm sorry what? I read John Huntsman and fell asleep, but I'm back awake now. So what happened?

Huntsman used to seem like a normal, moderate, almost progressive guy, that said intelligent things like this about China's move to clean up its act:

What's more, 50 percent of China's water is undrinkable, and 20 percent is so polluted you can't use it for commercial uses.

"It's a poor country. They have a lot of environmental challenges. What they've done is they've identified a pathway forward in dealing with a lot of their environmental challenges, and they're appropriating huge sums of money," Huntsman said. "We're talking about literally hundreds of billions of dollars to go after solar projects, to go after wind projects; nuclear energy is going to be a big part of that."

But when it comes to our own country, it's bowing to corporate overlords and blaming the EPA, just like every other pandering POS currently in the GOP forefront:

As governor of Utah, he [Huntsman] appeared in a 2007 ad for an environmental advocacy group in which he said, "Now it's time for Congress to act by capping greenhouse gas pollution." He also signed an agreement with seven other Western states and four Canadian provinces to reduce greenhouse gases. Since then, other states have pulled their support.

"Much of this discussion happened before the bottom fell out of the economy, and until it comes back, this isn't the moment," he says now. When asked whether he believes the climate is changing, he acknowledges the scientific consensus.

Basically, he knows the shit's real, but it's also unpopular, so until everyone says the economy is booming, not a damned thing will be done. He can admire China ("a poor country") - but goodamn - we ain't gonna be like the Chinese. This leaves an open-ended calendar to not do a damned thing, while the GOP as a party attempt to eviscerate all environmental protections, rewrite science, and dismantle the EPA.

Hunstman is as dangerous a clown as the rest of them. Maybe more so, because he's a killer clown in sheep's clothing, that looks almost reasonable until you peel back the first layer.
