Whenever I see or hear this guy my personal “bullshit detector” never fails to trigger, but I can’t pin down why.

Unfortunately, it’s not like there are any (winnable?) alternatives.

Well, that’s about as dumb as you can possibly be.

Go ahead, let Michele Bachmann or Mitt Romney win. Then see what happens to gay rights.

I guess repealing DADT, and not defending DOMA are not enough. Granted there is more to do, but how about a little credit here.

re: #3 Charles

There’s a certain logic to saying he won’t vote for Obama in an attempt to put pressure on the administration, while fully intending to vote rationally when the time comes.

Of course, that only works if the threat is perceived as having a non-zero chance of being carried out.

On the GOP side, that’s in part how Bush 41 lost to Clinton. That did not go well for the GOP at all. But I admit it’s my significant political dilemma, I frankly feel betrayed by voting for what may just be the least odious of the available candidates. So I feel the temptation to vote for those who deserve my support, and simply withhold my vote from those who don’t.

How do you feel when that one crappy guy that got your vote screws up? (Rhetorical Q) I feel discouraged.

Seriously.

There are plenty of issues where I disagree with Obama. He’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But given the alternative of a GOP that’s currently dominated by religious nutjobs and raving lunatics that would love to turn this country into an American version of Saudi Arabia or into some Ayn Rand style dystopia, I’ll take him.

Exactly. These firebaggers on the left are no different from their teabagger counterparts on the right. Both would kill their respective parties with purity tests that would make sure their candidates will never get elected nationally.

We don’t call them “nutroots” for nothing.
