Barton Lies Again, Says Obama Dropped The Ball On Child Pornography

David Barton never lets the facts get in the way of his promoting of right-wing view of history and political causes, no matter the issue. Today on his radio show WallBuilders Live with co-host Rick Green, the pseudo-historian claimed that under President Obama the Department of Justice stopped prosecuting cases of child pornography because the department has reduced its attention to obscenity. The de-emphasis on obscenity cases started well before the Obama Administration, as Religious Right groups even complained that the Bush Administration wasn’t prosecuting enough obscenity cases.

But sadly, people DO take him seriously. Barton’s one of the people influencing the Texas State Board of Edcuation’s new history standards that minimize the role of Thomas Jefferson in American history and boost people like John Calvin.

There are people listening to his nonsense and taking him at his word because they buy into the bullshit that he’s a “historian”.

I don’t think the facts are right either, I regularly visit FBI.gov to monitor terror and hate crimes, and you see new bulletins on child porn prosecutions all the time. There has been some de-emphasis in local PD’s and sherriff’s offices because some of the stuff they are being asked to prosecute is “sexting” and essentially travels from one minor to another. There’s a lot of debate right now about whether full weight of law should apply in those cases where both sender and receiver are minors.
