Okay, I’m done hosting pity parties for super talented people with money and opportunity that can’t get their shit together. That includes Amy.

There are less fortunate people trying to hold it together that can’t even swing rehab, let alone poke fun of it. Get this tedious spoiled brat to rehab, or just kick her to the curb when she misbehaves. She ain’t that special in the big scheme of things.

She really is a remarkable talent, and I wonder if we’ll ever get another album. Lot of druggies in the music world, but most of them can’t sing like that.

At the same time, I sure wish someone would tell me to ‘take as long as I need to sort myself out’, and have there be money for it.

She’s obviously an addict in denial. The song “Rehab” pretty much spells that out. The rest of her music shows a lot of depression and unhealthy relationships.

With any luck she’ll be able to sort herself out someday. She’s got talent. Shame it’s being lost at the bottom of a bottle.

I hope my post does not come across as in a “pity party”. My empathy extends as far as it would for any person in similarly desperate straits. However, I do feel badly that the world is being deprived of the great gift that is Amy WInehouse’s voice; it is a near criminal shame that it was put in the care of such a poor steward.

I think the actual translation of “given as long as it takes” is, to quote Tom Petty: “Don’t come ‘round here no more”.

Every time I see her in this awful state I feel like I’m witnessing an agonizingly slow suicide. I think most people have some sort of special gift, so it pains me to see anyone self-destruct like that…all potential for good being being sucked into a dark vortex by personal demons who feed like vampires on the light which, feebly dodging and flickering, desperately struggles to remain lit.

“Back To Black”

He left no time to regret
Kept his dick wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high
And my tears dry
Get on without my guy
You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I’ll go back to black

We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to…..

I go back to us

I love you much
It’s not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I’m a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to

Black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
I go back to
I go back to

We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to

We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black

I really like her style and voice, it goes back a long way with me to a place and time. It strikes a chord in me. She makes me feel 12 with the whole world just a shadow away in a pair of arms that wants me. Like they say; You do it for me. It’s a wild thing and I’m not even 13. Such is life. I hope she pulls up on the controls.

My goodness, like a drunken barfly on karoke night…

In better times.

She’s barely recognizable anymore

There is no cure for addiction. No pill, no therapy, just diligence and a lot of support. First you have to admit you have a problem, and I don’t think she’s there yet. But even then, it’s a life long pursuit of staying clean and sober. And a lot of back in forth in the meanwhile.

I hope she can make it. She’s young enough and she probably hasn’t lost her voice yet, though it’s hard to tell. I feel terrible bad for her.

re: #8 nines09

Try Imelda May. Same type of dark throaty voice, a lot of sexiness and fun but none of the deathwish.

re: #10 imp_62

Amy is closer to 50’s black soul and something that hits me. Imelda is rockabilly. Sade almost does it. Look up Dawn Penn doing No No No in the original cut. Amy doing Monkey Man kills me.
