This is so dumb it makes me blue in the face. It seems to me that the GOP stance is anti-Anything-The-President-Says. When it comes to stimulating business and hiring new employees, one of the easiest way to do so is by reducing the taxes (i.e. overall cost) of a new employee. And, like T-Paw and most other GOPers love to do so much, reducing taxes should be a no-brainer, RIGHT?

Cutting payroll taxes helps small businesses and it puts more money in the pockets of employees. Why would the GOP favor that? It doesn’t do anything for their corporate masters. =P

The GOP wants a double dip recession. They think it’s their best bet for capturing the White House. They may be be right.

The Dems’ one task in the next election cycle is to make sure the TPGOP owns this kind of crap—including the damage that will be done screwing around with the debt ceiling.

I posted a page awhile back about how I think fixed 4 year election cycles are almost more trouble then they are worth and tactics like this are part of the reason why. In Canada where I’m from, an election can happen any time if certain conditions are fulfilled. In fact, since 2006 there’s been an election every two or three years (including this year). Since the politicians don’t known when the next election will be, they have more time to focus on what they were elected for than worrying about some long, drawn out campaign. The time between the election announcement in Canada this year and voting day was two months. That is not a typo: TWO MONTHS.

Saves a lot of money and trouble to do it like that.

Also:

“We need long-term fundamental changes in our tax-structure, in our regulatory structure that people who create jobs can rely on.”

Is anyone else as fed up with hearing this term or similar terms as I am?

Boy, this really hits in the gut. I agree with dragonfire, let’s give ‘em something to really worry about and maybe they’ll do the job they were elected for. (for which they were elected?)

Seriously? I’d love to see Obama and the Dems take the ball and run with this that said.
