The New York Senate voted Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, assuring adoption of the measure and making New York the largest state to permit such unions.
Given the state’s population, the vote essentially doubles the number of Americans who can gain access to same-sex marriage licenses, which previously have been available in five states and the District of Columbia.

Amazing. If a state with a Republican-led senate can do this, then the time for marriage equality has truly arrived. This is huge.
