McDonald’s to run trucks on own vegetable oil

A win for the Golden Arches.

McDonald’s is fueling its trucks in the United Arab Emirates with oil from its own vats.
Dubai-based Neutral Fuels announced Sunday that it had reached a deal to convert used vegetable oil from McDonald’s outlets in the UAE into 100 percent biodiesel to power the fast food giant’s delivery trucks across the Gulf country.

Although I’d be much more impressed and pleased to hear this effort carried out in our own fine country.

Dubai of all places coming up with an eco-friendly alternative to conventional oil? o_O Wouldn't have seen that coming, but if they're seriously planning for a post-petroleum future, more power to them.

Although I'd be much more impressed and pleased to hear this effort carried out in our own fine country.

No kidding. Isn't it sad to see American-style ingenuity carried out everyone except America? :(

Yeah, I read a few articles online, and couldn't find what the UAE has that we don't, except a really really really huge supply of oil that they continually tap. Seems like that would be an even bigger motivator to convert the millions of gallons of used grease that McDonald's goes through each week. Hell, I'm sure they could provide enough for the worldwide fleet knowing how much french fries we go through here in this country alone.
