International Law-Who Is Behind the Second Gaza Flotilla?
Having come across a report that Swiss firm Interbulk has cancelled a cement delivery contract to the Swedish flotilla boat and returned EUR25,200 I found myself wondering where that kind of money comes from in this context. The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs has some answers:
The latest campaign is coordinated by Muhammad Sawalha, a senior UK-based Muslim Brotherhood figure who, according to Israeli sources, helped establish Hamas’ operational infrastructure in the West Bank in the late 1980s. He found asylum in Britain in 1990 and is one of the central leaders of Islamist, anti-Israel, and pro-Hamas activities in Britain. Many of the participating organizations can be directly linked with the Union of Good (UoG), a coalition of European charities affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which in 2008 was designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. Treasury for transferring funds to Hamas
Danny Williams at Liberlaconspiracy was kind enough to give the matter further thought:
Ships must be purchased, since owners are understandably reluctant to rent out vessels considering Israel’s seizure of boats last year, at costs ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 Euros per vessel The Mavi Marmara, which is expected to join the flotilla despite Turkey’s promises to the contrary, cost millions. So we’re looking at around 10 million Euros (my estimate) being used to hire ships and buy supplies before a penny is spent on aid. This doesn’t include the thousands of dollars activists are spending out of pocket on personal expenses.
Now that is a lot of scratch simply to make a point about the evil Israelis - rather than send it to directly support Palestinians -, especially if Palestinians in Gaza were really suffering as badly as the “peace” activists make out. Which Hamas itself admits they are not.
So, given the above information about the donors behind the flotilla, and the presumed cost of floating these boats out on the Mediterranean, it makes you wonder how people can be so blind to the real objectives of the flotilla organizers and their financial backers: draw negative attention to Israel, further the delegitimization attempts being undertaken by anti-Semitic groups around the world - and do it all while Islamists try to hijack the Egyptian revolution, Assad murders his own people, and the madman of Tripoli bombs civilian populations.
