1 Jon a Brit in Euroland  Fri, Jul 8, 2011 3:16:11am

While I know that there is massive bad blood between this (generally very interesting) site, and Ms Geller, I think that not everything she says, or does warrants the violent language which I read here.

Obviously the issue of this thread is the parlous situation of Christians and other non Muslims living in Muslim countries. It seems to me completely irrelevant to use the Crusades, of the Middle ages, as the only substantive “defence” of what is clearly an awful situation which exists at present, where Christians in Egypt (as an example) are not only subject to systematic discrimination, but at present a considerable degree of violence against them.

As I understand it their churches are frequently burnt down, and members of this community (who afterall were “there first”, well before the Muslim invasions of the 7th and 8th centuries: they were Christianised during the last centuries of the Roman Empire, but were the original inhabitants of Egypt) have been killed for simply being Christian.

Obviously there are people who consider that Israel “should be destroyed”: this is the Hamas position, and that, presumably of the people who get into little boats for a southward cruise across the Eastern Med. The support for the Christians in the Middle east is certainly no less important, particularly as they threaten no one (as far as I have read).

If Ms Geller, through whatever influence she might have, can help these (generally very poor people, who have essentially no internal or foreign support) in the fight to have a right to remain at their ancestral homes without being treated with violence, then one can but support her efforts, whatever bad blood there might be between this internet site and her.

Why do you think she can? You’re betting on Geller’s competence?

The woman who somehow ignored that the EDL was founded by racists?
