The issue of collective bargaining rights and bid rigging are separate. Non-competitive contract awards and insider dealing are harmful to the average citizen no matter who engages in these practices, or how. Collective bargaining gives individual workers a common voice with which to address a disproportionately powerful negotiating partner with hugely divergent interests. Many unions are broken, but that does not give government the right to punish the workers.

No one is “punishing the workers”. That is Union rhetoric.

The labor unions are fighting this hand over fist. No court would consider this bid rigging because there is no bid!

I would think it is a safe bet that this was not invented in Wisconsin. The reason people don’t know about it is that both sides are guilty. Governments made the deal. Politicians made these bad (for the State) deals with the unions. The unions give money and support for their “friends” re-election.

All of this could be easily documented, but it is NOT illegal.

In WI, Scott Walker’s 2010 opponent. Tom Barrett, received huge amounts of money from the unions.

Again while you are waiting for the Koch Brothers to get no bid contracts (which don’t actually exist), you are being distracted from the the real, documented back room deals.

So here’s the thing. 93 cents out of every dollar collected by the WEA trust is spent on healthcare costs, compared to 70-80 cents on the dollar which is the national average. The new plan, while cheaper for the district, raises deductibles across the board. I wouldn’t be surprised if the benefits reduced as well.

There are two separate issues here, efficiency and coverage. It sounds like the district saved money by reducing coverage at the expense of some efficiency.

Where do you get that from?

Emily Koczela, director of finance for the Brown Deer School District and a former Shorewood School Board member, said the company regularly resorts to methods other than competitive pricing to keep its business.

Earlier this year, the Brown Deer district’s teachers union filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission over the district’s decision to switch from WEA Trust. Koczela suspects the move was aimed at protecting the insurance company rather than the employees’ benefits, which she said remained the same with the lower-cost carrier.

Buck. My FiL grew up in a company town. That’s the feudalism the Koch Brothers want for us all. Only unions can stop them. That is why Scooter is just an evil little tool appealing the greed of stupid people like you.

A real conservative once commented that the only thing necessary for evil to win was for good people to nothing. The good people of Wisconsin are not going to do nothing.

More right wing talking points from Buck.

This is complete garbage.

Scott Walker’s bogus `mission accomplished’ moment.

re: #7 Charles

Nice story but does not offer any real proof, and does not discuss WEA trust. The union has not offered that..
