Bozos on their ATV’s riding willy nilly anywhere they wish through the desert causes a lot of this problem.

I like the “tread lightly” ethic we see encouraged out in the wild. ATV owners need to have some designated areas to play and stay off the general open land out there, I agree.

I’ve lived in Phoenix nearly all of my 51 years of life and have seen these types of dust storms since I was a small child.
This is nothing new. It has always happened and will continue to happen.
Oh by the way, ATV’s have nothing to do with dust storms like these.
It’s called Arizona’s monsoon season. Look up the science. It’s on the Internet.

I live in Nevada. We didn’t have the dust problems when I was growing up like we do now. At least here, a lot of it is off-roading in non-designated areas.
I’ll just ignore your last insulting comment.

……
Did you say science?
As dry as it’s been in the southwest this year, with precipitation 50 percent below mid-20th century levels, there’s reason to think that extra-dry conditions will continue to prevail. Extreme, century-long droughts are not uncommon in the southwest, and the drought that started in the late 1990s appears to fit that pattern. Whether it’s a consequence of climate change or would have happened regardless is debated, but the bottom line is a dry one.A dust cloud approaches a small town in Oklahoma. Kansas State University
Moreover, temperatures in the southwest, which have already risen by 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since the mid-20th century, are expected to rise by another 4 to 10 degrees by this century’s end.
Science! You could look it up on the internet just by clicking the link in the post you lazy freaking sod.

More science on heavy vehicles and the effects on soil.
