The BBC does not mention that the man killed by the IDF was a Hamas terrorist.

Also, why should there be any “refugee camps” in Gaza or in the parts of the West Bank which are totally controlled by the Palestinian Authority. These people are already in their “homeland” and the only reason for keeping them in “refugee camps” is because they still have a plan to “return” to what is pre-1967 Israel.

I was reading reports in The Guardian, Independent, etc. are all equally awful as BBC.

No, over there the Independent and Guardian, in that order.

*Swish!*

Also the BBC, of course, which is probably the most respected news organization in the world :p

I posit that the bias might not be on the part of the news organizations.

The BBC is probably the most well known news organization, and not as biased as the two newspapers mentioned. However we are getting off topic.

Can you address why the BBC will routinely reference any Palestinian town as a “refugee camp”, when it clearly none are by any normal definition of the term?

Well first of all, ‘any town’ isn’t exactly what they said.

More importantly, refugee camps aren’t automatically short-term, and aren’t automatically defined by tents.

I went and read up the wiki on ‘refugee camps’ in general, and altho’ I wouldn’t use it as a place to list what officially is or isn’t, there are plenty of camps with permanent buildings and longterm populations.

No, “any town” is what I said, not what the BBC said. The implication was obvious, I think. Feel free to quote a reference where they missed up and were accurate.

If you wish to consider any place where peoples, after several generations, still consider themselves refugees, be my guest. Please include all US Indian reservations for good measure.

For what it is worth, I think they are a welfare inspired anachronism too, casinos or not.

PIMF again: messed up. (it’s late)

The UN changed the definition of “refugee” JUST FOR THEM!!!

(Yes, I am certainly shouting; my disgust cannot be restrained)
