Pakistani ISI Creates Lobby Group To Spread Money To US Politicians
The FBI arrested Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai on charges of being an unregistered agent or lobbyist of the Pakistani government. As executive director of a group called the Kashmiri American Council, he gave money to congressional candidates and party organizations and documents show that it is run by the Pakistani ISI - as a means to propagandize on behalf of the Pakistani government since the 1990s.
Among those who received contributions:
Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind (more than $10k) spread out over the 2004, 2008, and 2010 campaigns.
The NRSC - $9,500 (spread out over 2004, 2006, and 2008)
Rep. Jim Pitts, R-Pa., also received $2,000 in 2004.
Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., who received $2,000 in 1998
Rep. Dana Rohrbacher, R-Calif., $500
Presidential campaigns of Al Gore, $250, Dennis Kucinich, $500; and Barack Obama, $250
This isn’t going to help US/Pakistani relations particularly after the OBL raid.
