Michael Vick needs to stay as far away from ALL animals, especially dogs for the rest of his life. If he had any sense to him he would do that; over-compensation is very dangerous and often conceals a very serious underlying issue. This example is case in point.

If the kids he speaks to believe his message, perhaps it can make a difference in the sport of "dog fighting".

I do feel sorry for him. If he had hurt, say, you or me, he'd be able to make it up to us, to apologize, & we could say, "Ok." Or not. But he'd know. But how can you get forgiveness from animals? Especially animals that you've killed. Yes, that goes for people, too. But people can speak for other people - theoretically, a family member of a human he might have killed could forgive him. With animals - how can you get that? I think this overcompensation (as tacuba14 puts it) could very well be a frantic attempt for expiation, that he can never get. But I also agree with ggt: he should continue this, if he can make a difference.

What Vick did was despicable, and it didn't stop until he was caught. No matter what he says, it has the depth of OJ going on a media campaign against double homicide. (I know, OJ was found innocent, then guilty in the civil trial. But still.)

The best anyone can hope is he makes a difference. But I find him a repulsive human being.

Good on Vick.

He's really learned a lesson from all this, well enough that he wants to be a force for good.

That's a big deal.

I think so, too. The question is, do you think people are redeemable?

I don't feel sorry for anyone but I'm not sure why the USA is the country where no one is allowed to make a mistake. He made a mistake, he paid for it, he had a change of heart, he seems sincere.

If people never changed we'd all still be flinging strained peas at each other from our high chairs.

I know what you mean. Clinton wasn't even allowed to "inhale".

WTF?
