I initially read the title as “Tiger blood”, and thought, wtf has Charlie Sheen done now? :)

100, 200 years from now, are we still going to have anachronistic special mini states within the union surviving mainly on casinos or welfare, or will they choose to join the rest of the country?

Here’s a Navajo graveyard:

They are a part of the USA. Who joined whom?

I am not commenting on the injustices that resulted in “camps” that became called “reservations”. Where does the word originate?

1. The act of reserving; a keeping back or withholding.
2. Something that is kept back or withheld.
3. A limiting qualification, condition, or exception.

Is that what these people will live under forever? I think it is an anachronism and a self perpetuating state of second class citizenship, casinos and “traditional” whaling with modern rifles and power boats aside.

The system certainly has its flaws, but “‘traditional’ whaling with modern rifles and power boats” is not one of them. that’s completely false.

I believe that the Inuit, or some of them, have the right to kill some whales every year, where others can’t. I have seen the hunts on TV, but perhaps it has been changed.

However the point is not the “flaws” of the system which implies that it can be improved but retained. The whole concept of micro states within the US seems anachronistic and even somewhat racist to me.

Imagine for example what the US would look like today if in “compensation” for slavery a large “reservation” had been set up for the Blacks?
