Not too sure about the idea that the declassification of information from the VENONA project actually vindicates HUAC.

Does the evidence that there really were Soviet spies in the US vindicate persecuting people who weren't spies?

Then let the record show that I hereby accuse Frank J. Gaffney Jr. of being a Soviet spy!

On what evidence? Well, we know that some Americans were Soviet spies and Gaffney is an American that's been accused of being a Soviet spy (by me), so logic dictates that Gaffney is a Soviet spy. Case Closed!
