This was a really awesome op-ed.

But it’s embarassing we have to keep reminding our regressives and their media enablers of these simple historical realities.

re: #1 Bulworth

They already accept and perpetuate this as fact. If not for calling them on their bullshit time after time after time, there wouldn’t be so much as a bump in the road for them.

Slaves did not live in independent “households”; they lived under the auspices of masters who controlled the terms of their most intimate relationships.

Absolutey, and even when the slave masters were relatively benign in the way they treated their slaves, they still had control over everything.

There is a place here, owned in the 1700’s by a freed black woman. Not entirely a sad story there, however what is amazingly sad is that in order to have her children with her, she had to buy them from the people who owned them. Can you imagine? Having to buy your own children in order to have them with you? Horrific.

The nostalgia for the chattel slave and segregation eras never, ever ends. Not even in 2011.

No one should be surprised or outraged that cultural conservatives sign pledge/loyalty oaths, run candidates that hold Southern Experience cotillions and dress in Waffen SS uniforms for fun; campaign on nonissues like what flag to put on top of capitol buildings, offer fake apologies for calling the president a tarbaby, or express support for the White Citizens Councils. This is what they are.

They don’t hide what they are. When they show you what they are, believe them. They’re not lying.

There is a “Southern Belle” camp in Tennessee which seems to be a little heavy on the revisionist history. It sounds rather lovely on the surface, but it simply doesn’t reflect reality.

Clearly these folks missed the point of Uncle Tom’s Cabin… or did they never have to read it in school?
