PolitiFact New Jersey: Newark Mayor Cory Booker says U.S. lags behind other countries in percentage of college graduates
There’s at least one area where the United States is not the world’s leader, according to Newark Mayor Cory Booker.
The United States is tied for ninth place among 36 countries analyzed by a Paris, France-based organization in the percentage of young adults who graduate from college within its borders. Booker made that point during a recent discussion on NBC’s Meet The Press.
PolitiFact New Jersey talked with some experts about the ranking and found that while Booker is technically correct, too much emphasis shouldn’t be placed on small differences between different countries — some of which are considerably smaller than the United States.
