Glenn Beck Says Michelle Obama Responsible For New Spider-Man
As anyone who is part of the geek-o-verse could tell you, there has been a huge controversy as to the ethnicity of DC’s “new” Amazing Spider-Man. The comic book one. Not the movie one. (Which is a different kind of abomination altogether, as no successful franchise needs a “reboot” barely 3 years after the last movie came out. But that’s a parenthetical for a different day.)
Miles Morales, a half-black half-Hispanic kid from The City is the new Webslinger. And who does Glenn Beck start screaming about? Why, Michelle Obama, of course, and how she is destroying the cherished American institutions of… comic books superheroes.
Now, I’ll admit that there are purists out there, myself included, who would see a Spiderman that is anyone other than Peter Parker to be more beyond the pale than Alfred-and-Lois-Lane slash fiction. But saying that it’s the fault of a politician’s wife?
Boy, am I suddenly glad that nobody tried to blame Jill Biden for the NFL lockout.
