Beck will find that Israelis have a much more nuanced view of the world than he does and, while they will applaud the support he has shown the Jewish state, they will not necessarily subscribe to his black-and-white, right-vs-left view of the world.

I agree. I was reading the talkbacks in the JPost on this. Beck does have support, as of today. If he keeps on about communist infiltration etc., they will bounce him out. These protests are legitimate and I'm eager to see how Israel solves this issue.

However, if one were to make a case that he is a supporter of Israel, he is showing himself to be a Trojan Horse with this line of manure.

For all his faults, Beck has been, at least publicly, a steadfast supporter of Israel. And that is probably all that most Israelis know of him and all that they care to know of him at a time when, between Durban III -- you did konw they plan to defile New York with that anti-Semitic tripe within days of the tenth anniversary of 9/11 -- and the PA's bid for unilateral statehood, many around the world are gearing up for a grand old Jew- and Israel-bashing at the UN next month.

Yes, but this is a time when Jews need to work on coming together--which is the strength of Israel, despite the many points of views and passions, ultimately everyone is on the same page. (Granted that page is like Gemara, with 16 opinions and three times more glosses than actual text).

Beck is now trying to weaken that strength. That's a Trojan Horse. Now, my idea of how to deal with him could be wrong. It's possible that everyone showing up and letting Beck roll around in his delusions might be the best strategy. I think he could be a personality type that is similar to Martin Luther, who expected widespread Jewish acceptance--and when he didn't get that acceptance, boinnnnnng. He went mad on the subject of Jews.

re: #4 Bob Levin

Jerusalem has attracted delusional populists for millennia. It is part of the aura of the place. Beck is no different. Beck will come and he will go and the Israelis will remain focused on the "tent" protests and the existential threat posed by Iran and its other enemies.
As for the Trojan Horse analogy, it doesn't, IMHO, fit. The mythical Trojan Horse was intended as a means of destroying Troy from within. I don't think Beck intends more than to show support fo Israel at a time when it is besieged and facing major challenges in the international arena. He does so imperfectly through divisive verbiage because he simply cannot help himself; that is who he is. But he is not likely to have any lasting impact on Israeli society, much less destroy it from within.

I hear you. If you're right, then the best strategy is for everyone to show up and let him roll around in his delusion.
