Bottom line: Horror of horrors to our leftwing friends, Michele Bachmann is in fact submitting to her husband by running for president.

Bwwaahhh…. Fischer is so dense that he doesn’t realize that in fact the “leftwing” (code word for: most people) objection is exactly what he re-asserts.

I have been reading a lot about the concept of “headship” recently, and how it is being interpreted and applied in a New Evangelical context. Very mediaeval and a bit misogynistic, if you ask me. But, I am not Christian, and am clearly not terribly well informed. Nonetheless, I have the same initial problem with the idea of “headship” as I do with the treatment of women in the extreme reaches of the Jewish haredi community.

Just last week Mr. Fischer said the Scriptures make it clear that God designed men to exercise authority & leadership all areas—home, church, society, and government—and that the only way that could be overridden would be if God couldn’t find any men with the cojones to provide it.

Presumably, God hasn’t redesigned men or changed the Scriptures since last week or we would’ve heard about it by now. Mr. Bachmann may well have authority over his wife, but how did he suddenly get authority to overrule God & the Scriptures? There are men running for president, and at least one of them isn’t lacking in the enormous brass balls department, so what gives? Why isn’t Mr. Fischer supporting the men, his brothers in Christ?

Did Mr. Fischer have a epiphany about the meaning of the Scriptures over the course of the past week, or did he get a phone call that caused his own testicles to suddenly be afflicted with severe shrinkage?

If I didn’t know better, I might be inclined to think Mr. Fischer was just another opportunistic hypocrite pimping religion & twisting scripture to advance his own worldly desires for power & influence. //

God, i hate how these people generalize. It’s because of these yokels that i, a non believer, have found myself on numerous occasions having to defend Christians, Muslims and left wing Jewish people-even the left wing Zionist Jews which Christian fundamentalists don’t regard as true Jewish people- and the reason appears to be because these fundies are ignorant ass holes.
First of all he says ‘Christian’ as if it is all Christians who believe this. It is not. It is only the loud, annoying fundie Christians such as himself. And in fact, even fundies in the 1700’s had a difficult time trying to keep an upper hand in the marriage. Furthermore, in the 1700’s the ideal woman for the non elites (wealthy) including fundies, was a big, strong capable woman. It was the 1800’s and the Victorian ideals and the Industrial revolution that changed the role and ideal demeanor of women in all classes.
So please, any atheists or people of other religions out there, don’t further generalize all Christians as being jack asses like this shit for brains because they aren’t. FIN

Fischer’s progress through this business with Bachmann is most informative to watch. We’ve gone from “it’s too coarsening to a woman to run” to “it might be OK if there is no man available” to “screw you, lefties, she got her husband’s permission!”.

(Note to Mr. Fischer. I’m not ‘leftwing’. I’m not your friend. And my husband has given me permission to call you a moron.)
