Thomas Sowell is a wingnut jackass.

There's a reason Sowell is featured at religious right sites like Townhall. They also publish prime anti-semites like Pat Buchanan and others. It's Salem communications, where they also own sites like Hotair

Less government, lower taxes, and deregulation are the answer.

I like Thomas Sowell. I don't consider him to be a wingnut and find it offensive that he should be called one.

Yes, Western Civilization is (doomed, under attack, etc. etc.) because society is decaying... and it's because of x, y, z. Where have I heard that before?

Thomas Sowell has been a paid-off mouthpiece of bigots and Christian-supremacists for decades. How does this article diverge from that?

What is your definition of wingnut?

re: #4 wee fury

For just one example, Sowell has guest hosted Rush Limbaugh's show more than a few times; if Rush finds him "conservative" enough to let him behind the Golden EIB Microphone on multiple occasions, then something's seriously out of whack with Sowell's views.

Sowell has written some other articles/essays relatively recently that indicate he's on board with the TPGOP madness...not the kind of stuff I want to hear coming from an economist. Here's a example he wrote in Investor's Business Daily after last year's BP debacle: Is U.S. Now On Slippery Slope To Tyranny?

Isn't the overall youth crime rate down from the 80s? Lazy imbeciles like Sowell don't bother to research before they spew garbage.

I was replying to #1.

Right. So if you disagree with #1, which refers to Mr. Sowell as "a wingnut jackass", then perhaps you have a different definition of "wingnut" than I do, or than celticdragon does. Because to me, someone who uses these following phrases qualifies as one:

...reveal the moral dry rot that has spread deep into Western societies.

..."Alternatives to incarceration" are in vogue among the politically correct elites...

...whole generations have been fed a steady diet of grievances and resentment against society, and especially against others who are more prosperous than they are. ..

...But it may be far more important to learn from their mistakes -- the biggest of which may be listening to fashionable nonsense from the smug intelligentsia....

And that's just from Part 3.

So when you say, "I like Thomas Sowell. I don't consider him to be a wingnut and find it offensive that he should be called one.", I wondered what or whom you would consider a wingnut.

Also, now that I look at it again, you didn't address the "jackass" part at all. Do you concur with that assessment?
