It’s no mystery why banking executives are rushing to give Perry their support. Of all the GOP candidates, Perry is the most fervently opposed to banking regulation. As Matt Yglesias pointed out, in his book Fed Up, Perry expresses the extreme view that all banking regulation and consumer financial protection is unconstitutional.

"Sure thing sucker, it's rated AAA. Or AAAA+, if that makes you feel better."

Desperately looking for political help to unhoist their petard...

Bank of America cutting 10,000 or more jobs
Many other banks and financial institutions are also cutting staff. They are under pressure to improve returns to investors amid a weak U.S. economy and new restrictions on lucrative trading and banking activities that were blamed for contributing to the 2008 financial crisis.

Shares of the country's largest consumer bank fell $1.66 to $6.51. Except for a previous swoon in bank stocks in March 2009, it represented a level not seen for two decades.
Investors appeared to be nervous about unresolved issues that linger in the banking industry, including how the banks will handle allegations that they misled investors and borrowers about the health of subprime mortgages leading up to the 2008 financial crisis.
