I forget which paper reported this, but Beck got a very tepid response from the Israelis. Most who attended were evangelicals. Beck spun this (it might be accurate, except that regardless of insight, for Beck it is always spin) as the ‘2000 year old Jewish flinch’, that the history of Christian/Jewish relations has made Jews quite skeptical when deciding who our friends are.

And again, the best way to stop proselytizing is for Jewish families to be strong and educated. Put simply, Shalom Bayit stops it all.

The Ha’aretz article is typical left-wing agitprop. Whatever one’s views of Glenn Beck — and the view of most here at LGF is well known on the subject — it is sheer nonsense to proclaim as Ms. Tabatchnik does, that “Israel’s international standing and relationship with Jewish-Americans is threatened as Israel is increasingly linked to right-wing political agendas in the United States.”

To the contrary, polls have regularly and repeatedly shown that there is and remains broad support for Israel in American society and, indeed, that such support generally grew under the supposedly right wing Bush administration. Where support seems to have wavered, on the other hand, is among the progressives with whom Ms. Tabatchnik associates and who, for the most part, are the target audience for her writings, as demonstrated by Gallup’s report a few months back.

For a discussion of American support for Israel over a longer time frame, see the following:

As I have written here before, most Israelis could care less about Glenn Beck, except insofar as he has been a vocal supporter of their struggle. With terrorists attacking buses and cars and missiles being launched at homes and schools, Israelis have far more important and presssing things to worry about than, as the following quote from Ms. Tabatchnik’s article exemplifies, the projection by yet another progressive Jewish American of her own political views onto others.

Beck’s embrace by Israeli leaders is further indication to Americans that support for Israel is becoming linked to an extreme political agenda in the United States. This threatens to alienate Jews and Christians, Democrats and Republicans.

Glenn Beck & the Dominionists use this gimmick to generate “Bonnie & Clyde” Syndrome when dealing with Jews, whether Israeli or American:

“Everybody hates you, baby, but I love ya! It’s just you and me against the world! Stick with me and I’ll take care of ya!”

Sad that so many fall for this bullshit.

Glenn. Beck. Is. Not. A. Friend. Of. Jews.

People like Beck and Hagee boast support of Israel which is a mile wide…but, in reality, have regard for Jews which is an inch deep. Israel has too many real life problems to be used by snake oil salesmen as a political chess piece, or a staging ground for apocalyptic fantasies.

And that would be a big problem, if I thought it were true.

I doubt the average Israeli knows who Glenn Beck is, or cares.
