This is good. There is a similar case in Illinois right now. Hope it goes the same way.

Meaningless until SCOTUS agrees. Even then it only means something if you have the $$$ to fight the police.

I agree it goes like that. But I for one will take the good decisions where and when I can get them. I often stand for the police in incidents that gets discussed here. But transparency is critical in my view. That's the balance.

If there was no recording of the Kelly Thomas beating (which days later caused his death) there would have been 0 justice. Kelly Thomas was a homeless, 135 pound, mentally-ill schizophrenic who was beaten to a pulp by 6 Fullerton, CA police officers. Cops wanted to keep a tight lid on it, so the story really never materialized, UNTIL footage came to light.
I want to trust the cops, but there are bad apples and strong bonds of unity within departments. Trust, but verify as Reagan said, and we can verify with footage, especially when deaths are involved.

So funny story... the phrase "bad apples" has switched meanings. Originally it meant that there were a few bad apples in a barrel of apples, and unless they were promptly removed the rot would spread, contaminating the whole barrel. Now when we say "a few bad apples" we mean that there are a few bad actors within the organization, but there is no structural problems with the organization. It's a rather inverted meaning when it comes to police brutality cases.
