Eh, no. This law has been "on the books" since the late 1800's, yet just now it's coming up for repeal. Think Progress is typically trying to use the story to frame Republicans in a bad light, but the problem is that no one has come out against anything at this point.

It's such a non-issue that there's no real reason to make this an issue.

I live here and no Republican has come out again repeal and no Democrat has come out for it. Rich Workman is coming out against a law that hasn't been enforced in over 115 years.

Why this is a story, I don't know. Other than Think Progress again trying to spin something.

What fucking century are we in again? Good grief.

There are Christians who live together outside of marriage these days.

Jobs, jobs, jobs. What?/

re: #5 Naso Tang

It's the jobs stupid, AND....attacking women's rights, attacking gays' rights, attacking science, attacking minorities and undocumented workers, and more jobs!

As long as you don't look at anything else they're doing, you'll see the GOP is very focused on creating jobs.

Tampa is right, the headline "florida republicans fight..." is more than slightly misleading. It's a republican that suggested the change (which was only filed last week: [Link: www.flsenate.gov...] ) and the one republican response doesn't even address anything in this bill. If you were to change it to "republican fights..." it would be closer to the truth but still not accurate.

I had to read the article a few times because it was confusing. Yes, "one Florida Republican is commendably trying to repeal these irrelevant laws." That would be Workman. The article doesn't mention anything about Democrats.

And yea, I think it's a non-issue. If it goes anywhere, you'll have a handful of Reps supporting it, but mostly Dems. Still, what's the point? An outdated law that no one is going to enforce? There are still laws on the books against sodomy. How are they going to enforce those? They should all be stricken. Workman is correct so KUDOS to him.

Why are so many Republicans obsessed about the behavior of their constituents' genitalia?

What type of "big government" infrastructure would be required to actually implement and enforce such a statute?
