Unfortunately, its pretty much inevitable that nasty regimes will acquire nuclear weapons, as North Korea and Pakistan have already done.

Another talentless hack looking for a spotlight.

Defending Iran is pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Without going down the rabbit hole about what constitutes a “right”, I don’t see much wrong with the notion that Iran has a right to nuclear weapons like any other sovereign nation. Considering neocon saber rattling, I think they can make a perfectly reasonable case for their possession against foreign aggression.

Not to be construed as a defense of Stone.

No, only if we let them.

No, no and no. There is no such a thing as a “right” to have nuclear weapons. I recognize that Iran has a recent history of having to deal with hostile neighbors, especially Iraq. Iraq has effectively been neutralized by the US and allies, but I’ll grant that Iran has legitimate defense needs that do not require nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction.

A country like Iran that threatens Israel with destruction on a regular basis, among other things, really cannot have nuclear weapons and should not be allowed to acquire them. I really don’t care what “case” they make for having them. They do not attempt to justify any such right to obtain nuclear weapons themselves, and in fact, they repeatedly deny that they are attempting to make them or that they even need them.

Again, no.

You already are down the rabbit hole given that you haven’t a clue what is reasonable and what is not.

I’m all in favor of any measure short of outright war to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. But we are not going to invade and occupy Iran, and all other measures may be insufficient to stop them.

They have the right to attempt to develop nuclear weapons.

We have the right to attempt to stop them.

Nukes in the hands of a country that refuses to accept and acknowledge the existence of another country is not a good thing. IMHO.

So, if they didn’t threaten Israel on a regular basis it would be all right for them to have nukes?

What if Iran nukes Riyadh in order to stem the flow of Wahabism?
