A walk through the Past.
Today I (and some young ones) had a unique experience. We all had the chance to look at and tour a couple of some of the most awesome Aircraft of WW 2. These Aircraft were instrumental in the defeat of both Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire. I stand in awe of the Men who served on board these aircraft.
We got an addition surprise when these guys showed up.
Never Seen those Markings before.
Turns out these were new Fighters belonging to the Austrailian Air Force being ferried out to California before ownership was transfered to the Austrailian Gov.
They just dropped by to get something to drink. (refuel)
I can kick myself in the ass for not getting pics of these pilots looking over these vintage War Birds (and taking pictures with their laptops). I overheard on of the Pilots asking where his wingman/commander(?) was. The guy pointed to the cockpit of the B-25 and said, there.
The other guy said, figures.
All in all, a chance encounter. W.W. II planes meet current tech.
BTW, the kids swarmed the Pilot of the FA-18 when they recognized him for what he was and they all ended up over at their Aircraft (as did I).
The vintage Guys looked like they loved it.
All in all it was something that I was glad to have experienced.
Now, if anybody can pass this on to either group and get a response, I would love to see it.
