Carter to Obama: Don’t Veto PA State

Former president Jimmy Carter of the United States called, Sunday, on President Barack Obama not to use the U.S. veto in the United Nations Security Council against the Palestinian Authority’s bid for recognition as a sovereign state.

Interviewed by National Public Radio, Carter said, “If I were president, I’d be very glad to see the Palestinians have a nation recognized by the United Nations. There’s no downside to it.” He admitted that failure to veto “would have some adverse effects perhaps on his political future.”

No word on his opinion of the rockets falling into Israel every day aimed at civilians.

What a douche.

And President Obama should follow Carter's advice because following the advice of Carter's advisers has proved so successful in improving U.S. standing in the Middle East, avoiding the rise of the neo-Ottoman Erdogan's power and influence, curtailing the Iranian regime's pursuit of nuclear weapons and bringing Israel and the Palestinians to a negotiated peace, right?

According to Carter and his intellectual kinsmen in Hamas and the PA, the rockets are falling on Jews, not civilians.

I wouldn't worry too much about this. When was the last time Obama listened to Carter on anything? Or even sought his advice?

Exactly. Obama has already gone farther into Israel's corner than any President in US history. First by stating that a prerequisite for statehood is the Palestinian's explicit acceptance of Israel's right to exist, and second by mandating that any theoretical future Palestinian state would be non-militarized. The first criteria hasn't been met, therefore he will veto.
