This is getting awesome. the Republicans seem to be trying to disqualify as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Who will be left by the time the primaries actually start?

Herman Cain’s candidacy is something I did not see coming. I work in Operations Research, so I gotta have some fondness for this guy.

I don’t dislike Herman Cain. If I were a soldier, I would definitely trust him to “have my back”. I don’t think he has what it takes.

I think his military record will end-up being the issue that drives him out of the race. I don’t know, in politics it could turn into a positive.

His military record?

Herman Cain is against all forms of abortion, even in cases of rape and incest.

It’s still amazing to me that someone with that position can be taken seriously as a political figure. It’s the most unworkable policy.

Over at “HotAir” all they can see is race. Before the Straw poll was called they wrote this:

Imagine poor Morgan Freeman trying to make sense of the world if Cain pulls an upset. As for Perry…

Right! Because after all, it’s Morgan Freeman who’s racist, not the ‘Baggers. Right?

And the door swings even wider open for a certain half term Governor from Alaska

I’m waiting for the bloggers and pundits on the socon right to start begging Palin to run because Perry keeps stumbling and it looks like Romney will be the nominee. That’s when the fun will really start.

If you are against abortion because you are trying to protect the rights of the unborn then why would rape or incest matter? People who take the intermediate position that abortion is murder—but not in cases of rape or incest—are simply being insincere.

Agreed. But I’ll take an insincere half-bad pol over a sincere fanatic any day.

You know I often see the charge levied at politicians who have spent most of their careers in government that they don’t understand how business work. I think it’s perfectly valid to say Herman Cain doesn’t understand how government works. What was it he said? Bills should be less than 3 pages? And he said he didn’t think foreign policy was important either I believe.

Me too, but I just want to weep at such diminished expectations.

Is it any wonder that there is renewed speculation about Christie? The anybody but Romney crowd is getting desperate now that their Great White Hope Perry is looking so inadequate.

And she would eat all the attention up

I’m still convinced she would run….I can’t imagine her willingly playing 2nd or 3rd or 4th fiddle to the Republican nominee by not running and just being some random pundit on FOX

But she does have to announce soon….I believe Iowa has a November deadline for filing to run in the primary
