Report Says Cartel Violence Heading North
A new report says you’re living in the midst of a war zone. Two retired U.S. generals say the drug cartels are moving the battlefield north.
The retired generals studied the border at the request of state lawmakers. They spent the past four months researching. They released their report Monday, and some of the findings are alarming.
“The threat grows more violent every day, and more resources are needed. We have been saying this and our pleas have been rebuffed, and that’s why we wanted a look at the southern border of Texas from a strategic military perspective,” says Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples.
Staples wanted an independent, non-partisan study. He called on Barry McAffery and Robert Scales. Ret. Gen. McAffery believes the federal government is in deep denial.
“We’re going to have a shameful incident on the U.S./Mexico border in the coming years if we don’t amp up security on the frontier. It’s coming,” says McAffery.
