Mitt Romney, Glenn Beck, and Jon Huntsman disagree.

Am I the only one that read the title as "Bryan Fischer: First Amendment Does Not Apply To Morons"?

And I have to give it to Fisher, anyone doing the gymnastics and contortions he does at his age, he must be a world class athlete.

What a lying dog. In the video he obviously conflates the framers of the Constitution with the federal authorities with whom the Mormons came into conflict many decades later. The Mormon Church did not even exist as an institution in the framers' time. The claim that the LDS church has never denounced polygamy is a craven Goebbels-level lie. The Mormon church routinely ex-communicates polygamy advocates to this day. There is no greater denunciation than that in church procedure.

You should embed the video IMHO

"Brigham Young set some kind of world record for number of wives"

What about Solomon? Read your Bible, you ignorant infidel.
"And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart." (I Kings 11:3, KJV)

I'd actually gain some respect for Romney, Huntsman, and even Glenn Beck if they told Bryan Fischer to screw off. I have my problems with the Church of Latter Saints but they do and should have the same 1st amendment rights as everyone else no matter what fascist Fischer thinks.

Heck, I disagree.

Our efforts in the past to get someone, anyone within the GOP or Religious Right to condemn Fischer’s relentless bigotry have not amounted to much, mainly because nobody within the movement seems to be particularly bothered by it,

Well yeah, they agree with it and Fischer is the only one of integrity among them to actually utter it. So he gets away with it.

Huckabee spouted out some pretty anti Mormon crap in 2008. I have my disagreements with them but the way the Christian fundamentalists view and treat the Mormons is disgusting.

Heck, I disagree.

Most people, if they have any sense of decency, would disagree.

Religious bigots like Fischer, OTOH, disagree because they're raving lunatics.

Well. I guess I'll shut up now.

/Or not.

I wonder if Bryan Fischer considers Catholics sufficiently Christian to have first amendment rights. Perhaps he can give us a list of which denominations are Constitutionally acceptable.

Hey LDS, you might want to rethink which side of the barricades you want to be on in the culture wars, because once your allies are through with Planned Parenthood, the gays, and the muslims, they're coming after you.

One would think the LDS, with their history of state repression against them, would not have to be told this.

My ancestor Jacob, and his wife Leah, and his wife Rachel, and his concubine Bilhah, and his concubine Zilpah, would be interested to hear about this.

18 SanFranciscoZionist  Thu, Sep 29, 2011 7:37:17pm

Of course, this crap of Fischer's is absolutely parallel to the crap that he and others spew about Islam.

"The Founding Fathers didn't mean..."

"If they get a chance, they'll do this weird thing..."

19 Rishonah  Thu, Sep 29, 2011 9:44:22pm

How funny. At first I thought it said "Morons," as someone else said he did, and I thought, "Morons have the same rights as anyone else, no one has to listen to them!" and only later realized it was Mormons.

I don't care what religion or none anyone is as long as they keep it to themselves and not try to push it on anyone else.
