Feh. If it was just a stupid adult, I’d point to the joke about sending the boat and helicopter. Since a child died, I’ll simply say that I believe they got off light and should have been looking at life without parole.

I am a believer. But I have walked through old cemeteries and seen the results of society without modern medicine and science. Fuck that shit.

No one can not be allowed to do this to children who have no other way to defend themselves.

It’s not a tragedy. It’s cold blooded murder.

Once it’s born = product of sin.

So, until it repents and asks Jesus into its heart, it wasn’t really living, anyway. //

Note that this is the fourth such trial in Oregon City involving this particular cult, the “Followers of Christ.” This was the third child to die because of this group’s harebrained dogma.

I think this rises to the level of criminal incitement, since the parents are told unequivocally to ignore medicine in favor of prayer and faith. The cult leaders should be prosecuted. If a Muslim group had murdered three children in the same city in response to its leaders’ commands, you can bet those leaders would be headed for SuperMax.
These are not well-meaning but stupid and confused people, they are evil: The rave a lot about Jesus, but they not only don’t know Him, they cannot even imagine Him.

Why weren’t the midwives charged?

Why weren’t the midwives charged?

Good question. I’m actually glad to see the manslaughter charge. If you look on the net, most of these cases end up with criminal negligence of some sort which results in a basic slap on the wrist. The sentences are usually up to 18 months and they serve maybe 1/2 of that. Imagine any other child neglect charge that results in death with the abuser serving less than a year.

Children’s Healthcare Is a Legal Duty was founded in 1983 to call attention to child neglect due to religious practices.

In 1999, Oregon passed a law to prevent religion as an excuse for child death, although the Followers of Christ church and Christian Scientists have been fighting to overturn it. Between 1999 and 2003, there were no deaths, but then that started to change again. One infant died of a sore throat (untreated necrotic tissue developed). Another boy from a urinary tract infection. A teen from pneumonia and another infant from a tumor over her eye.

Jurors must convict with hard sentences for this to stop.

Sen. Rick Scott Senate Re-Election Chair’s GOP PlanDaughter1 provided this clear-text draft of the GOP 11-point plan from the eye-poison on the Scott website. It is still recursive as created, crowded and full of codewords, but much more readable. The "Sundown" clause alone is enough to end ...
