In the past, I have cautioned posters not to assume that the President's inner circle - much less the President himself - had any direct knowledge of Fast and Furious based solely on the actions of Under-Secretaries and advisors to the NSA. With this report, however, the horseshoe is getting a lot closer to the post. This could get ugly for the White House, and the timing could not be worse.

Has Eric Holder taken responsibility? Regardless of what he knew, he was in charge and responsible. If he would accept responsibility and be transparent about the ensuing investigations, it would be a non-troversy.

Fast and Furious and GunWalker were shitting operations, ATF et al should just admit at and move on.

This could be the ATF's worse fuck-up yet. And I hold Ruby Ridge to be the mother of all dumb-ass operations.

A timeline of events, including unfortunate denials...

Reposting from the overnight thread:

So I just read the memo Holder got. It was a weekly briefing, 3 pages long, with 15 bullet points. The only unredacted bullet point is the fast and furious one. It reads:

Tuscon Gun Trafficking (D. Arizona): On October 27, the Organized Crime and Gang Section (OCGS) indicted eight individuals under seal relating to the trafficking of 228 firearms to Mexico. The sealing will likely last until another investigation, Pheonix-based "Operation Fast and Furious," is ready for takedown.

That's it. He heard the words once 9 months before he said he did. Big whoop.

That's all that has been proven, so far. The trouble is we had denials that were later disproved time after time. Credibility is falling. It's also worth noting CBS dug this up, not the Atty Generals office or ATF. What else lurks in emails and file cabinets?

Good point. We'll see if any Agents take the 5th on this one. Ruby Ridge was a terrible scandal. Innate suspicions of a separatist and that combined with an informant in need to impress the agents. Entrapment and internal intrigue. Then a botched seige.

Horribly botched seige. A baby died.

They shot a kid and a baby. Our Government, on American Soil.

Why the ATF is still in existence is beyond me

We need them. Run well, but we need them. I know some agents from ATF, the guys that check up on gun stores and shooting ranges. Good people by and large. Ruby Ride was a despicable aberration.
