DC museum closed after protest; pepper spray used
Smithsonian spokesman John Gibbons said a large group of demonstrators, estimated at 100 to 200 people, arrived at about 3 p.m. and tried to enter the National Mall museum. When a security guard stopped group members from entering, saying they could not bring in signs, he was apparently held by demonstrators, Gibbons said. A second guard who arrived used pepper spray on at least one person and the crowd dispersed, he added.
Come on, guys… What the hell were you thinking? You grab some security guard who is just working for their paycheck, you can bet half your ass that one of his buddies will come along and give you a cayenne facial rub.
If they’d been protesting at Raytheon or Boeing corporate headquarters, it would be a different story. At least there you can take out your ire against someone who actually works for the people you’re pissed off at. At a museum dedicated to all forms of aircraft, including the ones people may disagree with, you look incredibly foolish.
