1 Lord Baron Viscount Duke Earl Count Planckton  Mon, Oct 10, 2011 8:07:31am
The Ministry of Truth -- Minitrue, in Newspeak -- was startlingly different from any other object in sight. It was an enormous pyramidal structure of glittering white concrete, soaring up, terrace after terrace, 300 metres into the air. From where Winston stood it was just possible to read, picked out on its white face in elegant lettering, the three slogans of the Party:

Orwell was disturbingly prescient. Gah, it's too early in the morning for this idiocy. I'm mortified that this guy is even in the running. WTF, America? How can any of you cheer this idiot on??

3 HappyWarrior  Mon, Oct 10, 2011 9:45:19am

Insignificant states? WTF. I don't expect Cain to know who the president of Uzbekistan is but I do expect a presidential candidate to understand the importance of international relations and not deride lesser known countries as "insignificant."

Conservatism rewards incompetence and failure. Herman Cain embodies the Peter Principle to the nth degree.

Orwell was always a little too much on the nose. He wrote alphabet books, basically.

Sounds like pop song from the 30s--"Do You Know The President of Ubekebekibekistanstan?"

My grandma used to sing this one, from Harry Owens and the Royal Hawaiians:

Princess Poopooly has plenty papayas
And she loves to give it away
Now all of the neighbors they say
Oh mea oh mya
You really should try a little piece
Of the Princess Poopooly's papaya

Herman Cain should join "The Rent is Too Damn Low" party, if it exists.
