11,000 US libraries can now lend books to Kindle through OverDrive, an electronic media company that has long provided (fairly inelegant) e-book and audiobook downloads to libraries across the country. The work of providing Kindle access happens on OverDrive’s end, rather than requiring something new of library IT staffers, making the whole process less painful for libraries and patrons alike.
