It's a delicate issue (I am pro choice but remain uncomfortable with abortion, especially as the age of viability goes down), but if the life of the mother is at risk, I see no need for her to have to justify her choice to abort.

Hypocrite and proud of it. It was different. It was his wife. Not some loser or whore like the rest of you who have no regard for life. You can all die. Screw your kids. Screw your wife. Screw you all. Rick is a punk bastard who somehow got elected once and now thinks he is somebody. He is. He's a sociopathic feeble minded fascist.

That is one of the most disgusting issues with the religious right. What they condemn in others is always a special case for themselves.

Mr. Santorum's wife would be dead, in the wrong hospital now because of laws that assholes like him just passed. But of course, the Santorums, like all GOP hypocrites, are more equal than others.

I have seen conservatives scramble around to insist that she didn't have an abortion, she just induced labor, etc. But not only is that very often part of an abortion (especially the one they've deliberately mislabeled for propaganda effect), they both said specifically that they would have made the decision to abort had it been necessary. They are hypocrites - even if his hypocrisy is the only one that needs to be broadcast.

Ricks' wife would never have to concern herself with being denied. Being denied is for the rest of you slobs, not families like Ricks. Rick is different. Him and his wife are somebody.

Maybe it's OK if you pray about it first? (To an approved deity, of course.)

Exactly, but his own gang of idiots in the House just passed a bill saying that other women in the same situation can just die if the hospital feels that way. They won't even allow for "excuses." Just die.

Nines09: let us know how you really feel, why don't you? ;- )

There's no reason for them to have to justify it--except that Santorum rails against the availability and legality of exactly this sort of a medical procedure on a fairly routine basis, and the people who like him routinely claim that there is NO WAY a pregnancy could threaten a woman's life, not for reals.

They did the right thing. Everyone else should also be allowed to do the right thing.

People turn savage over the sematics of pregnancy. A miscarriage is a "spontaneous abortion".

Next they'll be trying to prosecute a women for any perceived threat she might have experienced to cause the miscarriage.

OMG, you had a glass of wine --you murdered your fetus!

OMG! You ate a french fry -- your murdered your fetus!

Yes, she also changed the dirty diaper of her toddler and used a household cleaner to wipe up his vomit from the bathroom floor.

They'll be crying for any women who even thinks she is pregnant to wear a gold star on the outside of her clothing so sick people will stay away and face masks to avoid any toxin in the air that might harm the child.

Better yet, they'll require her to be covered at all times and segregated.

We can't avoid all risks in life. It just may be G-d's will this fetus not be born.
