God this is sickening.

I don't know what's worse, that this scumbag monster is once again seeing the light of day or the way the family apparently found out, via the media....

I feel for Gilad Shalit and his family, I really do.

But has anyone asked him whether or not he wants to be traded in this manner? I don't think I'd be able to accept it. I'd feel too much guilt at letting those potentially deadly people go free.

Some part of me is hoping that they are getting Shalit back so that his captivity will no longer hold them back from dealing with monsters like this appropriately.

Hopefully, yes. Though Hamas may be encouraged by this to try and take further hostages. Honestly, I don't fee; Israel should have done this. I hate to say it, but Shalit's life isn't worth handing over all these terrorists. Better to write write off one man than put thousands of others at risk.

Hamas' antisemitism is already red-off-the-charts-dangerous. And it's not going to diminish a single speck, ever. The same is true for Fatah. Now, we could argue for three years straight about the merits of this deal, and we wouldn't reach any kind of clear conclusion.

We do know, however, that it is a great mitzvah to redeem prisoners. This leads directly into another universe of cause and effect, but that is the universe with which we must struggle. And this is indeed a struggle, isn't it?
