(And now he can lie to Fox viewers.)

Don’t worry, they won’t be able to tell the difference anyway.

BTW, it looks like Fox is going to give him center stage sooner rather than later:

South Carolina primary debate in works

[…]

Former Gov. Mark Sanford is expected to appear at the Jan. 16 debate as one of Fox’s latest paid contributors, a network spokeswoman confirmed Monday. Sanford is expected to come on air before the New Year, but details were not available.

Connelly said the fact that Sanford was at one time considered a 2012 presidential or vice presidential contender makes his commentary ideal for a conservative audience. “I think the governor has national appeal. Just being in the conversation shows he has reach,” Connelly said.

1. So it goes with today’s kinder, gentler nomenklatura. If you mess up, you’re no longer sent to the firing squad or gulag. You lie low for a year or two, and then are allowed back to the elite feeding trough. Your position is nowhere near as choice as it once was and your prospects are limited, but…you’re back at the trough.

2. Sarc, I hope: Perhaps we’ll see a revival of Hannity & Colmes with Mark Sanford and Eliot Spitzer replacing the original hosts.

3. Let me be clear: when somebody stays out of the public eye after an egregious moral lapse, I am not inclined to seek them out and cast the first stone. However, sometimes an ostentatious “rehabilitated” persona seems as artificial as the discredited original persona turned out to be.

Since Fox sued for their right to lie to the public, he’ll fit in well.

He is Fox News. A shallow lying washed up hack with dirty hands and no shame.

Ugh, was this the “Appalachian trail” guy?

Maybe Fox will give him his own Family Values Hour, and he can do some travel commentary from exotic locations. Sort of a watered down version of Fundies Gone Wild, but with less full frontal.

Yup, that’s him.
