My mom said when she was in school and learning to write cursive, the teacher would balance a quarter on the back of the students' hands an inch or so below where the thumb & forefinger meet, and they had to learn to write without causing it to fall. Needless to say, she has beautiful handwriting.

My sister learned calligraphy- her handwriting is beautiful.

I'm a huge fan of calligraphy, in any language. I admire anyone who learns it as it takes a great deal of practice and much more patience than I possess.
