More than 1.1 Million People Lose Power In Northeast During Rare October Snow Storm.
The main problem here is that all the leaves are still on the trees and the wet heavy snow is collecting on them and breaking branches bringing down the power lines. Why are the leaves still on the trees any intelligent person might ask, why haven’t they turned colors and dropped? Because another record setting warm autumn has not signaled the trees that it was time to go into winter hibernation cycle yet.
One might also add that the increased atmospheric and Ocean surface temps cause increased evaporation and therefore more atmospheric humidity and heavier snowfalls/rainfalls in some areas under the right conditions…
The reason knowledgeable people stopped referring to AGW as global warming and started referring to it as Global Climate Change is because of situations just like this. By tomorrow there will be dozens of posts from the climate change deniers saying “look, heavy snow in October! what warming?” They won’t acknowledge that AGW science predicted this, that it was expected to happen as the climate pattern is thrown further askew.
Unfortunately there is simply no way to teach someone anything if they just won’t listen…sigh. :(
