spokesman for the church, John Charles, said the food request was in keeping with the church's commitment to Christian charity. "As Dr. Schuller always says, 'Find a need and fill it,'" he said. "I think that's what we were trying to do here."

But Canfield sees things differently. "These are millionaires who have limos and chauffeurs," he said. "Why in God's name would they want the congregants to deliver meals? It's ludicrous."

What's ludicrous is how there are still congregants sitting in the pews each Sunday. If these people didn't leave several years ago amidst allegations the pastors/owners/crooks were siphoning millions of dollars of tithing for their own personal use that ultimately lead the "Cathedral's" bankruptcy, then I would suggest that now would be an appropriate time. Anyone else who continues to attend is not just really naive, but really really dumb.

Heaven have mercy, although if I was God I probably wouldn't, they're morons who have watched those who speak for/of God rob them blindly. I'm pretty sure that's looked down upon in Christianity.

No, the correct form here is, "I know a lot of people have offered to fix meals for Arvella while she's sick, but God be praised, that's not something we need right now. Arvella does ask for your prayers, and that anyone who wants to do something to help make a donation to X Food Bank, or volunteer a Saturday with the soup kitchen.

If one has a chauffeur, one can order out.

The congregants can send cards, if they want to.

This really should be a funny (as in ha-ha) post, instead it just strikes me as sad, so many people still clinging to a version of the Christian faith that really has no ties to Jesus at all except for the occasional mention of his name during Sunday services. It is just so easy to be led astray by charlatans when you are listening to the voice of a man instead of the voice you should be listening to.
