Well good. Now he can get all the 'separation' he wants.

Oh man, Edgar J. Steele. That is one dirty old bigot.

Oh well, see ya later, Filthy McNasty.

Given the reputation that Aryan Nation members have for targeting judges and jury members for retaliatory violence, I hope that Winmill and said jurors get the necessary police protection that they will most certainly need.

“I am a political prisoner being persecuted for my views.”

Plotting to kill your wife with a pipe bomb isn't a "view," it's a crime. An attorney should know that. Dumbass klukker.

I'm from the area. Nobody is in any real danger... or at least not any more than usual. Aryan Nation and white supremacy isn't tolerated any better here than other areas with a better reputation like Puget Sound.

Yeah, it's my understanding that since the AN was run out years ago, the numbers are way down & it's mostly isolated cases of mostly (but not entirely) defanged idjits. Like the MLK Day bomb suspect.

Is Spocompton Hillyard, for you, or West Central? I spend part of the year in Spokane, and mostly like the place quite a bit...though I don't think anyone needed the Otto Zehm scandal to know that there's an, ahem, problem with city government. I wanted to post a news piece about the Thompson verdict here but didn't get around to it...

I'm having deja vu. I'll repost my comment from the other Page on this.

I learned about this guy when I was reading about the Jekyll Island Project and other anti-Federal Reserve activists. He was one of the speakers at their event in 2009. A few minutes of his speech there will give you an idea of just how creepy he is.

Me too. The Police in Spokane have a... reputation, and it didn't begin with Otto Zehm.
I'm actually just outside the city limits, but what I would describe as the "Spocompton" part of town is Sprague avenue between downtown and Spokane Valley. But it's okay, because Downtown Spokane is my favorite part of any city I've ever been to. The Skywalk system is awesome in the winter and connects the bus depot with most buildings in downtown, and River Park Square is so well integrated into the architecture of the surrounding buildings, it should be a model of how malls can be done right.

Ah, makes sense. The only landmark I can really associate with that part of town is the baseball stadium, but I've been driven around some of the more industrial areas over there...lots of abandoned houses. Not pretty. The darker side of Spokane was something that as NYer I'm just not used to: a different sort of problem that drugs have inflicted on society, a different sort of poverty.

I'm a fan of Downtown Spokane as well. I had no idea what to expect when I first got there, but I appreciated the urban core. The architecture is attractive--the buildings are old and stately, and the contrast with North Division (which looks like too much of the rest of the country) is stark. If one didn't literally have to travel up that way for necessities, I would never want to.

I know there's a kind of divide between other parts of town & South Hill (which is where I stay when I'm in town, not far from the Zip Trip on Maple/Cedar), I've seen it on message boards. The South Hill is yuppie scum, or some such. But, heck, whatever: I'm eager to see the Trader Joe's!

I have to say I was amazed at what looked to me to be a class division between people who actually have cars...and everyone else. The bus system functions very well, and I like it. I'm not used to having a car. But I'm honestly not sure I want to spend any more time relying on public transit there, and I've always been a huge proponent of it. For the first time in my life I feel like saying to anyone who would argue that cars are evil, or some such--an argument I've always had some sympathy for--you try living there without a car!

Meanwhile...the SPD is...wow. I just don't have words. In NYC we have 35,000 police. In a city of 8 million, that's something like one cop for every 225 persons. If you consider that the metropolitan area is probably double that population, then, okay, 1: 450. Spokane...I read (maybe this was wrong) that there are 290 police officers. The population might not be up to a quarter-million yet, but certainly it's getting there. So, one cop for every...more than 850 people? The Spokane metro area now pushes three times that number? That's some crazy shit. Add to that the problems in the department...like I said, I really don't have words.

Detroit Local Powers First EV Charging Road in North America The road, about a mile from Local 58's hall, uses rubber-coated copper inductive-charging coils buried under the asphalt that transfer power to a receiver pad attached to a car's underbelly, much like how a phone can be charged wirelessly. ...
